| A quicksilver will handle much different than a cessna not onlt because it is a pusher, it is also a very light high drag aircraft. In my opinion more GA pilots have got themselves killed trying to fly UL's than people who try to teach themselves to fly them. Cessnas require little to no rudder input while flying, Ultralights rely heavily on the rudder to maintain co-ordinated flight. Because you live in a "crowded area" you will be able to fly more places if you have your quicksilver registered as a LSA. As for CFI's check www.sportpilot.orgChris hope I haven't discouraged you to much | |

I would have to agree with you on that one even though I am in the "sticks" I have to travel the same distance to find an instructor I guess all the travel makes it that much more rewarding when you get to fly your own plane though. Chris | |

| Hey jhern523,
I traded a Jeep for an old MX and I think the dude said it was an '83 as well. Does yours have the spoilers instead of ailerons?
Mine's been in storage for months since I've been moving, changing jobs, etc... but I think it's time to pull it out and take a real close look at it.
Maybe we can compare notes as we get these things airborne... ya think?
Thanks

| Nope...
I don't know if that will be a problem or not. I'll just have to get 'er flyin' and see.
I'm not planning on doing any stunts anyway, so it will probably be fine.
But it definitely sounds like we're working on the same model doesn't it?

| If you know how to fly anything you can fly an old MX. Because you lack ailerons you wont have the coordination problem that many transitioning GA to Ul pilots have. just make a few crow hops then go fly. without ailerons you wont be able to handle a crosswind but because you have a short takeoff roll you can just run across the runway!
have fun Chris | |
